Testimonials
We think it’s always interesting for other people to hear from you about how your dog has enjoyed their time with Ingrid Grayling, whether it’s active holidays or training. We would appreciate it if you can email us your comments so that they will be added; and should you wish for your name and address to be withheld, please let us know.
The following are a selection of recent comments we have received:
“Walking our dog, Gigi, is an absoulte delight now, she can walk through a field of sheep and not even look at them, she is doing so well – my sceptical husband is absolutely amazed and delighted!
To anyone considering training with Ingrid I would advise to have plenty of time and daylight (and some available sheep). It was challenging to say the least but totally and absolutely worth it in the end!”.

“Ingrid I can’t thank you enough with the help you have given with our dog Bailey. He is absolutely fabulous and a pleasure to walk now. I work him twice a day for approximately an hour and then continue on a walk.
The other day I met a friend who has a Labrador and her son has a Jack Russell, they were watching me work Bailey and were so impressed. I told them to let their dogs off the lead and let them have a run. We had 3 tennis balls which we threw for them, only Bailey retreivee them all and came back first landed the balls at my feet and he then sat down looking at all the balls on the floor. He is such a character and he is fully respondent to the whistle.
When he is sat I can now walk away from him (50 yards) with my hand in the air and then turn and when I hold my other arm out horizontal, he will lie down, and I am now getting three hundred yards away from him and he waits until he gets two blasts from the whistle”.

“As you can see from the picture Ingrid has worked wonders with our dog. Almost a year ago I came to Ingrid with Dylan who is big, strong and was hell bent on chasing sheep or any livestock as soon as he was let off a lead. It was only a matter of time before he would have caught and harmed a sheep and this made me terrified every time we went out for a walk. I found Ingrid through the webite, and booked in straight away. After the training with her I saw an immediate improvement with Dylan, so much that I now have a relaxed dog who can walk off the lead amongst sheep that can safely graze, and I feel more confident and in control of the situration. It is such a pleasure to walk him now and I thank Ingrid, you really have changed my life!”.

This post is technically not a testimonial, but we wanted to share this fabulous picture of ‘Angus’ the spinger spaniel with you. He has just received his favourite collar back from us which he left behind after his residential holiday in the summer. They are clearly called ‘spingers’ for a reason!
Margaret and I met Ingrid at the Cumberland Show and arranged to take out unruly little Dog-de-Bordeaux for training. On arrival at Ingrid’s Schuemy took Margaret for a run down the road to Ingrid’s shock and horror declaring that this was most unacceptable with which we agreed.A programme of training was set up and six weeks later after three visits to Ingrid we now have a dog which is totally under control, can walk off the lead through a field of sheep. The difference is frankly unbelievable and from a dog which we loved but worried every time we took him out or had visitors we now have a good friendly pet. Being 10stone he was too much for Margaret to control but now she can walk him with confidence and enjoy the experience.Ingrid has been friendly, organised and totally professional in all the training and has surpassed all our expectations and having experienced other trainers we can honestly recommend her to anyone who has a problem dog or like us knows little of how to train their pet. Ingrid honestly explains that she trains the owner rather than the dog and following her instructions you cannot fail.Margaret & George Rutherford
Buying a new dog service testimonal
“Through the help and advice of Ingrid, we have just adopted a six year old chocolate Labrador called Lola. It’s early days yet but she seems to be settling in really well. She has a lovely temperament, is calm and has an ever-wagging tail. We are both thrilled! Ingrid really gave us some fantastic advice and directed us to the right breed and type of dog to suit out lifestyle. We are really happy that we asked Ingrid and used her ‘how to buy a new dog service’, it has been really appreciated and all her efforts have apid off as we now own our beautiful Lola”.Sue Clarke October 2011
Many thanks for the help with our dog, Cushy. Your treatment of her bad behaviour was nothing short of miraculous and has solved a very worrying problem for us. We are continuing with the aversion therapy you advised us to do, and now she is well on the way to a complete behavioural change with no desire to chase livestock and worry other animals. Our heartfelt thanks Ingrid for working your magic and giving us peace of mind and a dog we can finally trust and enjoy.

“We wanted to drop you a line Ingrid following our recent visit to you. Poppy has moved on leaps and bounds with her behaviour and we are so delighted. Just the following day on our normal evening walk we met a man with two dogs and we were able to stop and chat without one bark or growl. Since then we have used your techniques on just the odd occasion but it really has been fairly rarely. It’s now so much more pleasurable to be able to know we can meet other people and dogs without having to worry about what she is going to do. Once again many thanks”.

“After one dreadful experience too many with Lola our Weimaraner and sheep, I decided to take action – after searching the internet I found Ingrid’s website and really liked the look of what she had to offer. Ingrid managed to book me in for a session at really short notice, and after one session with her, and a week of training with me and sheep, Lola now stays to heel – walks off the lead – and walks through fields of sheep and lambs without even licking her lips. It’s nothing short of a miracle. She’s also amazing on the lead now, walking to heel, with no dislocated shoulders for me. I can’t wait to fit her in for a full training course with Ingrid – I thought my dog was ‘almost there’ with training and such, but after 1 hour with Ingrid, I have glimpsed the kind of dog she could be, and it would be an injustice to her not to give her the chance to become that fabulous dog! I can’t thank Ingrid enough!”

“This week it has been an absolute pleasure taking Jasper out. He’s been exceptionally well behaved and responsive (even attracting quite a few compliments from other dog walkers) and I’ve felt confident and relaxed. And he’s still showing no interest at all in sheep!”Dawn Kenyon December 2010
“The difference in both my dogs after just 6 weeks is remarkable. They have completely opposite characters, Quaffle is laid back and chilled, Snitch is bright and very keen to be into everything but Ingrid’s techniques have worked equally well with both of them. Walking in the woods used to be hard work and often ended up with both dogs on a lead to prevent them chasing pheasants or getting in other peoples way, now both myself and the dogs are much more relaxed and walks are a pleasure.”Emma, November 2010
“You should have got another Labrador!!, that was my husband’s constant rebuke when realisation of the full implications of owning a hypo active Lakeland terrier! She chased sheep and cows; in fact she chased anything that moved, usually with the soul intention of killing it.It was in my total desperation that I travelled 80 plus miles north to see Ingrid Grayling. After one full days tuition in Cumbria, for the next month I spent 2 hours a day following Ingrid’s training schedule. After a month it was time for the second stage of the training plan which was to stop Cassy chasing livestock. Now six weeks after my initial meeting I have a completely reformed dog. She is an absolute pleasure to take out. She is obedient on or off the lead and I can walk through a flock of sheep with her off the lead without fear of mass murder. The transformation Ingrid initiated in Cassy’s behavior was nothing less than miraculous.”

“Ingrid has really helped us with our dog, Taz, he is like a different dog since the training she did with him (and us). I no longer have to avoid places where there is live stock or going to the park where there are lots of other dogs. Since the training he actually ignores other dogs, and much to our relief, livestock.”

“I really do not know where to start, Ingrid has have been such a life-saver to our dog Rosa! She learned so quickly not to chase sheep, and showed no interest in them when we went walking last week. Thank you so much for everything”.
Sue and Chris, Bath June 2010
“Yet again Rosie has come home a happy little dog after her holiday with Ingrid and already has her bags packed for her next holiday there. You have no idea how lovely it is to be able to go away and know she is such kind and safe hands, I cannot thank her enough!! Ingrid took some photos of Rosie while she was staying which she gave to us and are absolutely brilliant and show just how happy she is. We both have such peace of mind leaving her with Ingrid and I am so grateful to her. Thanking you again”.

“What a difference, our lives have been transformed completley since visting Ingrid with our dog Sherpa. We are now walking in the hills with her off a lead and not chasing lambs and sheep as she used to. Ingrids training techniques are certainly unique and work, we are more than happy with her very professional service.”

“Having tried, and failed, with two trainers living nearer to my home I ‘Googled’ the word ‘sheep chasing’ and found Ingrid. And what a relief.
Ingrid really knows her stuff. My Cocker Spaniel, Archie, is a reformed character! From a stock chasing nightmare, I now have a dog that listens to me. Archie is a real pleasure to take on walks. He heels, sits and stays – fantastic!
Thanks so much”

Quite exceptional
“I had the very good fortune to meet Ingrid last month. To my mind she is exceptional in her field (no pun intended). I’ve been unable to cure my dog Alfie of his ‘nervous aggression’ although he was brilliant in all other ways it remained a problem, I spent just one day with Ingrid, and Alfie is now 99% there, 6 years I’ve struggled with this problem. I believe everybody should have the chance to benefit as I have from the knowledge imparted by training the Ingrid Grayling way. Happy dogs mean happy owners!”

Boarding heaven
“Thank goodness for Ingrid! Finally I’ve found some kennels where I can leave Jasper, confident in the knowledge that he’ll be well looked after and have plenty of exercise. Having previously used three local kennels with mixed results, a friend recommended driving to Cumbria and leaving him at Ingrid’s. Initially I was unsure if the journey from Cheltenham was going to be worth it, given the distance. I’m pleased I did, because the enthusiasm Ingrid shows for the dogs is just what any owner would want to see. After a week’s stay, I collect Jasper and he always looks in great condition and so happy.”

Poppy’s Training!
“Our parson’s Jack Russell – Poppy is nearly three years old, she was rescued as a puppy from a family with boisterous kids at 16 weeks old and has had little or no training except for the obligatory fetch and sit commands.
She was a happy little dog but a bit confused and hyper – due mainly to not really knowing what was expected of her, she had no boundaries and was unaware of where she fitted into our family.
We had attempted further training but with little success – Poppy would not come back until she was ready – if at all, and would attack any other dogs, birds or squirrels in what she regarded as her park!, other dog owners referred to her as the Asbo Dog.
She also pulled on the lead and would not walk to heel, again our training attempts were less than successful, Poppy would not respond to either a treat or discipline based training schedule and because of her behavior towards other dogs we felt a dog training classes were out of the question, (plus we didn’t really have the time).
Then we discovered Ingrid Grayling’s services whilst browsing the web for a solution, we contacted Ingrid and explained our problem and shortly after visited Ingrid with Poppy for an assessment, as we were unable to commit to a regular training program which Ingrid offers we decided that residential training which Ingrid also offers was our best option – Poppy would be away for a month.
The key points to address were socialization around other dogs, recall, walking on and off the lead to heel and the correct response to sit and stay, all these requirements have been met and more!!
Poppy now walks to heel on and off the lead (although she needs constant reminding to slow down – well she is a Jack Russell!), she will come back with two toots on a whistle or her name and will sit and stay on command either near-by or at a distance. She no longer chases after other dogs, instead she will sit and look at us for approval – only then will she check out the other dog, most of the time we tell her to stay away and she does! She is still fascinated by squirrels but simply watches them from afar, only chasing them if we say she can – which we do not, the same applies to birds, horses, cars etc.
She even sits and stays when going through doors, allowing us to go through first – much better than the previous leaping and whining we used to endure!
In summary Poppy is now much more relaxed, off the lead nearly all the time she is out and a real pleasure to walk as we are no longer wondering who or what she is going to chase next – also other dogs can now enjoy the park, she is no longer referred to as the Asbo Dog!
Well done Ingrid and Thank You.”
